I was really impressed with this middle-grade work and would highly recommend it. 'Frenzy' is equal parts enthralling for adventure, survival and horror after an outbreak at a camp turns the animals wild, and equal parts humor and engaging for the characters presented and how they take it upon themselves to survive. Initial reaction: A solid 5-star read from my first experience with Robert Lettrick. I really enjoyed this one - it was fun and creepy! I hope you guys enjoy the review and if you choose to pick up the book that you enjoy that too. And this post/review will get bumped up also around the release date as well, but I'm noting that this is the original date I wrote this review on just so that people will know. Reason I'm doing this is because I want to go ahead and talk about this book and submit it to NetGalley and the publisher for posterity. Readers who like their horror strewn with corpses, leavened with compassion, and rooted in reality will find this one entertaining indeed.Reviewer's Note 1-12-2014: You guys are actually going to end up being able to read this review early since BookLikes is the only place I'm posting the review on for now - not my blog, not GR, but here. Heath is almost too good to be true-smart, compassionate, genuinely nice, and a natural leader-but his secret explains a lot of that, and he's not annoying about it. Among the gang are the fat kid, the bug-obsessed kid, horse-mad twins Em(ma) and Em(ily), the former bully, the little girl, and Machiavellian chess player Will Stringer, whom Heath describes as 'operating on a whole different level than the rest of them, like Einstein or Batman.' The pace is breathless (with a brief time-out for a swimming lesson) and the scenario plenty gory and horrifying. Heath and the last remaining survivors attempt to make their way back to civilization, fighting not only the wildlife but their own demons.

Suddenly every single animal for miles around is frothing at the mouth and gunning for humans. But the wolves are howling, the horses are skittish, and by the time the rabid porcupine goes on the attack, camp isn't so much fun anymore. Gr 6–9-What's not to love about Camp Harmony? Fourteen-year-old Heath likes the setting and activities, and he's even made friends.
